To celebrate their 70th Anniversary, Valvona & Crolla suppliers to Her Majesty the Queen and Scotland’s oldest Delicatessen and Italian Wine Merchant, opened VinCaffé in Multrees Walk at the heart of quality shopping in Edinburgh city centre.
VinCaffé blends a mix of retail and leisure concepts into one exciting venue. The ground floor shop is packed with Italian food and wine while alongside a café operates from early morning to late in the evening. On the first floor a luxurious restaurant with private dining, wine tasting and bar areas cater for visitors from lunchtime to the early hours.
With so many different areas functioning together across a normal trading day, the staff at VinCaffé make use of an Evolution System by Mode Lighting to provide localised scene setting control of the lighting.

The Evolution lighting system offers intelligent, multi-protocol control and can handle an expanding range of light sources and control options, to metal halide, fluorescent and LED lighting, with an astronomical time-clock the Power and Processor units are available as standard from 3A to 20A with leading, trailing edge and high power switching versions all linkable to create the desired fully networked system.

The Astronomical time-clock within Evolution is programmed to provide subtle scene changes automatically throughout the day at fixed times or in relation to sunrise and sunset, making the most of the daylight streaming in through the full height glass windows and doors at the entrance to VinCaffé.
A conveniently located control plate allows the manager to advance scene changes if required or to halt automatic scene changes in each area if needed for a special event or private party.
The automatic control provided by the Evolution system allows the highly skilled staff at VinCaffe to focus on their work, serving the customer, without worrying about light levels and general ambience. This leads to greater productivity from staff, loyal customers and improved turnover.
Programmable button LED colours on the control plate indicate which scenes are set and which areas are operating in manual or automatic mode.
The Evolution system controls a variety of lighting loads including downlights, halogen fittings, cold-cathode and fluorescent ballasts without the requirement for any additional interfaces.
